Who I am

The human body holds every experience we’ve ever been through, and traveling to the depths of those experiences takes courage. As a therapist, I find a balance between soft empathetic attunement to your emotions and needs, while also holding clear direct communication around growth edges that I may witness in you. This blend creates a container that honors where you are, and holds your vision for how you would like to see your life change.

My 10 years in the mental health field have brought me to these places:

  • AZBBHE approved Clinical Supervisor

  • Program Coordinator of a state wide program to support elders during COVID-19

  • Sole social worker for 2 drug rehabilitation courts

  • Group facilitation for unhoused youth, bereaved individuals, and hospice social work

  • Suicide risk assessor for adolescents

  • Outreach coordinator to bring yoga to incarcerated and at-risk youth; internationally trained yoga teacher

While these positions have contributed to my holistic knowledge, being a therapist is where my heart is. I support both individuals and couples navigating challenging relational dynamics, complex trauma, dissociation, stage of life transitions, anxiety, depression, and many other life experiences.

Throughout my career, I have been guided and supported by excellent mentors. My value for learning continuously fosters my knowledge acquisition from people I deeply respect.

Outside of my role as a therapist, you’ll find me in the Flagstaff and Sedona nature, expressing my heart through creation, stillness, and various forms of movement.

Individual Therapy

As a therapist, my focus is creating an authentic space where genuine expression thrives. This environment allows for a strong therapeutic bond, which is shown in the research to be the greatest predictor of positive client change. I value authenticity, clarity of communication, gentle self accountability, and honesty with self and within the therapeutic dynamic.

Due to my training and intuitive nature, I know how to hold a safe and informed container for those healing from complex traumatic experiences. I utilize the following techniques in my practice:

~Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to decrease distress related to past traumatic experiences

~Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), nervous system lens, and somatic interventions to bring the body on board and access deeper layers of emotion

~Attachment theory to contextualize and change relational emotions, behaviors, and beliefs

~Parts work to foster internal self connection, make sense of past experiences, and learn to meet internal needs

~Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to foster increased self-awareness, healthy reframing, and loving self-talk

~Guided meditation to foster calm and present moment awareness

It is important that you find the right therapist to meet your particular needs. If you’re curious about working together, I would be glad to have a free consultation to learn more about your story and your present needs.

Couples Therapy

An individual talking about their relationship challenges is different than those challenges coming alive in the room. That’s what I love about couples therapy. The relationship dynamic comes alive - the conflict behaviors, the real emotions, the heart of the matter. We use these real emotions to build a map of what conflict looks like in your relationship. We track what behaviors exist, what the beliefs are, and what emotions are charging the situation.

Over time, we use this conflict map to explore what runs beneath the surface. The ways that fear or sadness or grief often linger quietly on the sidelines of conflict. These softer emotions broaden the view. Once we can see the whole picture, the relationship system has a chance to shift.

Taking ownership of your side of the relationship and how it impacts your partner is at the foundation of our work here, with many moments of deep sharing with your partner along the way.

All of this is done in the framework of Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which has many years of research in its efficacy in helping couples deepen their emotional bonds and find more secure attachment.

I bring attuned attention, direct facilitation, and advanced training to the couples therapy space. If this sounds like a journey you would like to take together, I’d be happy to have a free consultation to discuss your relationship needs.
